Job summary

Abbott in Temecula, CA, is seeking a Project Coordinator to manage planning, execution, and implementation of strategic initiatives within the Abbott Vascular Devices division.

You will support PMO governance, maintain standards and templates, and drive transparency and continuous improvement across the project portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) or equivalent experience.
  • Masters Degree (± 18 years) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years related work experience.
  • Working knowledge of project management concepts and regulatory quality environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and implement company projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain PMO governance, standards, tools, and templates.
  • Direct project execution by assigning tasks and tracking schedules.
  • Develop risk plans and contingency measures.
  • Communicate status through reports and meetings.
  • Mentor junior project leaders and share PM knowledge.
  • Build internal and external networks to facilitate task completion.
  • Lead moderate scope project teams and guide staff.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Temecula, CA location in the Abbott Vascular Devices division.

The Project Coordinator, manages the planning, execution, and implementation of company projects involving departmental or cross-functional teams, ensuring the successful delivery of new or ongoing strategic initiatives. Supports overall PMO governance by maintaining project management standards, processes, tools, and templates, while driving consistency, transparency, and continuous improvement across the project portfolio.

What You'll Work On
  • Estimates project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort.
  • Prepares project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project.
  • Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.
  • Assures project quality by using standard development methodologies and by working with SQA to develop and execute project quality plans.
  • Communicates project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.
  • Resolves project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate.
  • Consults with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques.
  • Participates in external project management organizations, conferences and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management.
  • Cultivates a wide range of internal networks and begins to develop an extensive external network of resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • May lead a project team of moderate scope.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Acts as a mentor to lower level individual contributors.
  • Influence exerted at peer level and occasionally at first levels of management.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule.; 6. (Decision Making/Impact) Exercises authority and judgment within defined limits to determine appropriate action.
  • Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources.
Qualifications

Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Experience/Background
  • Masters Degree (± 18 years)- Preferred
  • Minimum 2 years
  • Related work experience with a good understanding of specified functional area.
  • Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures. General understanding of business unit/group function. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.; 3. (Cognitive Skills) Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Has a broad knowledge of technical alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the systems environment.
