Niels Fugal & Sons is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support our fiber overbuild construction operations. This position plays a key role in moving projects from permitting into construction and through completion by coordinating subcontractors, field supervisors, inspectors, and customer representatives.

The Project Coordinator will manage project data, assign boring and fiber placement crews, monitor schedules and production, review subcontractor billing, and ensure accurate construction documentation is delivered upon project completion. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, and able to identify issues before they delay construction.

What You’ll Do
  • Project Coordination & Data Management: Maintain accurate project records and status updates in Basecamp and other tracking platforms; review permits and ensure projects are ready for construction; coordinate with field supervisors and inspectors; track progress and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Crew Scheduling & Construction Operations: Assign boring and fiber placement subcontractors based on deadlines, availability, and priorities; coordinate schedules with field supervisors, inspectors, and subcontractors; monitor production; coordinate field/customer-service communication on construction issues, damage claims, and repairs; identify roadblocks and elevate larger concerns.
  • Billing Review & Quality Control: Review subcontractor billing for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with reported work; identify discrepancies or questionable charges; request corrections and raise significant issues requiring management approval.
  • Project Closeout & Documentation: Collect construction redlines from field supervisors and inspectors; review documentation for accuracy and completeness; coordinate delivery of completed project records to the customer.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicate professionally with subcontractors, customers, field personnel, and internal departments; provide accurate updates; coordinate escalations involving customer concerns, engineering revisions, and project priorities.
What You’ll Need
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, vocational training, or technical education in telecommunications or a related field preferred.
  • One to two years of administrative, construction coordination, telecommunications, utility, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience working with field crews, project tracking systems, construction billing, or project documentation is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Accurate data entry and recordkeeping; ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of fiber-optic construction terminology preferred.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, maps, permits, and project documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, email, document management, and project tracking platforms.
  • Experience with Quickbase, Google Workspace, Basecamp, or similar systems is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify inconsistent information, recognize scheduling conflicts, and raise issues appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with field and management teams.

This is primarily an office-based position involving computer work, data entry, phone calls, email communication, and project documentation. Occasional visits to cities or construction sites may be required to support project kickoffs and coordination activities. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment, adapt to changing priorities, and respond to unforeseen project issues.
