Project Controls Specialist II OR Senior Project Controls Specialist

Position Summary

Project Controls Specialist II (PCS-II) is responsible for initiating and completing routine aspects of project control assignments, including estimating, scheduling, change analysis, and cost control. PCS-II is an essential member of a project team.

PCS-II supports Senior Project Controls Specialists and project managers on various projects following Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) standards. The role involves performing project control tasks using prescribed methods and tools.

The position requires advanced knowledge of project controls principles, demonstrated through extensive work experience or higher education. Proficiency in project controls principles and related software tools is essential.

Responsibilities
  1. Generate Periodic Project Controls Analytics: Analyze project data periodically to support metrics, distribute, and archive analyses.
  2. Perform Change Control: Track, trend, and initiate actions for scope, schedule, and cost changes, ensuring compliance with governance and contractual rules.
  3. Benchmarking and Self-Assessment: Lead initiatives to improve project controls, identify best practices, and address performance gaps.
  4. Expertise in Project Controls Methodologies: Assist in WBS development, scheduling, cost estimating, and reporting. Perform variance, earned value, and critical path analyses.
  5. Create and Maintain Project Estimates: Collaborate with estimators to develop comprehensive cost estimates and manage them according to standards.
  6. Effective Team Participation: Maintain relationships with stakeholders, support issue resolution, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
Required/Basic Qualifications

This posting is for one position; qualifications depend on the level:

Project Controls Specialist II
  • Associates degree in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Business, or related field AND at least 2 years of related work experience.
  • Alternatively, High School/GED AND at least 5 years of related work experience.
Senior Project Controls Specialist
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field AND at least 5 years of related work experience.
  • Alternatively, High School/GED AND at least 9 years of related work experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or Finance
  • Certifications such as PMP, AACE certifications, PMI-SP, etc.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera, Business Objects, Passport, PowerPlan, Emax, Peoplesoft
  • Knowledge of risk management tools and Monte Carlo analysis
Working Conditions

Hybrid work model with remote and onsite work, living within reasonable commute distance.

3 days in office; flexible schedule.

Specific Requirements
  • Proficiency in project management concepts, software, and analytics.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.

The role involves interaction with various organizational units and external vendors.

Travel and Additional Details
