ILUS - Controls Engineer II

Job Location: US-KY-Erlanger | US-MI-Grand Rapids | US-IL-Bolingbrook | US-UT-Salt Lake City

Overview

Develops new products for material handling applications including conveyors, sortation, automated storage, order fulfillment, and robotic systems. This includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, and PLC logic. Works closely with support from senior engineers and the overall team to design systems meeting product requirements, using creativity and innovation to design the standard product offering.

Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, design, develop, and engineer products that add value and meet customer and market needs.
  • Collaborate with the development team to develop products.
  • Ensure products fit with current and future manufacturing operations.
  • Develop products that meet performance and cost demands.
  • Specify and develop sequences of operations for automated equipment.
  • Prepare schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication.
  • Develop PLC programs.
  • Maintain development schedules and cost estimates.
  • Follow engineering standards and best practices, including software revision control.
  • Perform prototype development and testing.
  • Conduct on-site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Investigate product issues in the field to determine root causes.
  • Domestic travel up to 40% within North America, mostly in the United States.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience with sortation and conveyance equipment or robotics design.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley control software and tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical and safety codes for machine and equipment design, including risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, HMI, and SCADA.
  • Knowledge of controls/controllers and PLCs.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies.
  • Self-motivated and able to work non-traditional hours.
Salary Range

USD $73,000.00 - USD $95,000.00
