Job summary

CoVolt Power is seeking a Project Controls Specialist I to coordinate and perform project control activities from pre-construction through execution and close-out. The role is based in Downtown Houston on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 remote).

The candidate will develop budgets, CBS, and dashboards while ensuring cost compliance and timely reporting. Strong analytical skills and English proficiency are essential; 1–3 years of project controls experience is required along with knowledge

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of project controls experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
• 1-3 years of project controls experience.
• Working knowledge of project controls and project management principles.
• Proficiency in MS Office and financial tools.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Experience with dashboards (Power BI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up projects in ERP and PM systems to track performance data.
• Develop and implement project control plans, budgets, and CBS.
• Manage controls and timelines to meet cost standards and regulations.
• Monitor performance, estimates, and claims; provide progress updates.
• Track earned value, costs, and schedules; identify risks and mitigation.
• Oversee change management procedures, including change orders.
• Prepare weekly productivity and month-end reports with variance/forecast.
• Maintain dashboards (Power BI) and respond to ad-hoc data requests.
• Manage billing schedules and client invoicing processes.
• Participate in meetings; build relationships with stakeholders and vendors.

Essential Functions

Project Setup

• Set up projects in ERP and project management systems to track and analyze performance data
• Develop and implement project control plans, budgets, and cost breakdown structures (CBS)

Project Monitoring & Control

• Manage project controls and timelines to ensure compliance with cost standards and financial regulations
• Monitor performance, quantity estimates, and claims; providing regular progress updates to the project team
• Track earned value, costs, and schedules to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies
• Maintain and oversee change management procedures, including review and approval of change orders to budget and revenue

Reporting & Analytics

• Prepare weekly productivity reports and month-end reporting packages, including variance and forecast analysis
• Maintain time-phased forecasts and cash flow reports
• Update and monitor project dashboards (e.g., Power BI) and respond to ad-hoc data requests
• Manage billing schedules and client invoicing processes

Communication & Support

• Participate in project meetings to review timelines, deliverables, and performance
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and contractors
• Development and implement project controls best practices

Requirements

• BS/BA in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Construction Management (Minimum of 5 years of project controls experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree)

• Working Knowledge to Proficiency in computer applications such as financial tools, spreadsheets
