Overview

General Purpose:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Project Control Specialist (PCS) to manage schedule and budget activities across our project portfolio. This includes project control activities such as cost and progress management, forecasting, planning, scheduling, and project reporting. The role involves collaborating with project team members on budgets, forecasts, schedules, and monthly cost updates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and work within Cost and Work Breakdown Structures (CBS-WBS)
  • Provide operational support to Project Managers and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Create project budgets from as-sold estimates
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Finance & Accounting on financial reporting and forecasting
  • Analyze and report on cost variances, cash flow, and resource planning
  • Assist with developing and maintaining resource-loaded project schedules
  • Lead schedule reviews with site staff, project engineers, and clients
  • Define progress reporting rules of credit for projects
  • Analyze and report schedule impacts
  • Track critical activities and changes to the critical path
  • Run critical path reports and support analysis
  • Coordinate multiple schedule inputs into a master schedule

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related project controls experience (Cost Specialist, Scheduler) in sectors like refining, oil & gas, petrochemicals, metals, or engineering capital projects
  • 10+ years of project controls experience can substitute for a degree
  • Experience with large capital programs, pre-construction programming, and maintaining EPC multi-disciplinary schedules
  • Experience managing contractor relationships and industry best practices
  • Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems; Vista Viewpoint experience is a plus
  • Understanding of cost and progress management, critical path method scheduling using Primavera
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to build strong relationships, and team collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; occasional travel may be required
