Job summary

Sundt Construction in Phoenix is seeking a Project Controls Manager to partner with business units, implement SMS SOPs, and measure project performance to mitigate risk and enable relentless execution.

The role emphasizes compliance audits, lean initiatives, data analytics, and recovery planning across major projects (> $50M), requiring strong leadership and advanced scheduling/cost control experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Finance preferred.
• Experience with large complex construction projects (> $50MM).
• Knowledge of SMS and Sundt operations procedures.
• Minimum 7–10 years relevant construction experience, 3–5 yrs with Sundt.
• Proficiency in interpreting contracts, cost/revenue forecasting, risk and cost estimating.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate compliance auditing of SMS governance per PMP and project team approvals.
• Drive Lean principles and practices across the organization as part of continuous improvement.
• Evaluate updates to SMS workflows, forms, templates and system manuals.
• Identify best practices and training needs for broader implementation.
• Measure project performance metrics and risk indicators for early warnings.
• Support development of recovery plans for critical project management deficiencies.
• Develop data analytics and reporting formats for uniform SMS auditing.
• Collaborate with business units to implement consistent SMS procedures.
