Job summary

Delta Constructors in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking a Project Controls Manager to oversee cost and schedule across multiple projects totaling ~ $200mm in annual revenue. You will mentor PMs and controls staff while guiding planning, reporting, cost control, and contract management.

The role requires strong leadership, communication and the ability to work across complex projects with demanding clients and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, PM, business or engineering.
  • 10 years in industrial construction or related field.
  • Project controls certification preferred (PMP/ CCP/ PSP/ EVP).
  • Ability to independently decide and lead others.
  • Strong safety mindset and professional conduct.
  • Willingness to travel to Alaska project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cost and schedule across multiple projects totaling ~$200mm revenue.
  • Manage project controls systems and reporting tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, Sage Intacct).
  • Participate in proposals and client presentations.
  • Provide technical guidance on project scope analyses with PM staff.
  • Assist in estimates and project manpower forecasting.
  • Ensure scheduling activities comply with requirements.
  • Forecast personnel needs and manage budgets.
  • Lead client meetings with project updates and issues.
  • Mentor a team of project controls staff (6–10 people).

Position Summary

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Project Controls on project(s) for the Northern Region. This position will assist, guide, and mentor all Project Managers and Project Controls staff in areas of Planning, Reporting, Cost Control, Schedule Management and Contract Management. The incumbent will also actively engage in developing and monitoring budgets, schedules and controlling costs with many complex features. This position reports directly to the Vice President. This position is classified as exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Essential Job Functions
  • Ability to programmatically manage all aspects of project cost and schedule across multiple projects totaling ~$200mm in annual revenue.
  • Manages and maintains project controls systems and reporting tools, including Sage Intacct, scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6 or MS Project), and related cost/estimating platforms.
  • Participates in proposal preparation and client presentations
  • Provides technical guidance in analyzing and interpreting complex sections of project scope documents and assists project management
  • Assists in finalizing conceptual, preliminary and definitive estimates
  • Ensures that all project scheduling activities such as schedule development, updates, progress reporting, and recommendations for corrective action comply with company and client requirements
  • Assists in the determination of project manpower requirements and prepares periodic forecasts of personnel requirements.
  • Ensures that all project cost and budget activities such as development, monitoring, updates, cash flow requirements, and recommendations for corrective action comply with company and client requirements.
  • Advises project management of cost and schedule impacts of proposed design or construction changes.
  • Leads client meeting discussions by clearly presenting project updates, progress, and key issues.
  • Ability to effectively interview and assist in the recruitment of new project controls staff.
  • Directly manages and mentors a team of project controls staff across concurrent projects averaging 6-10 individuals.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or university degree with relevant construction or project management, business administration or engineering degree is desired.
  • 10 years of experience in industrial construction, Midstream Oil & Gas preferred
  • Project controls certification (e.g., PMP, and/or AACE CCP, PSP, or EVP) preferred.
  • Capable of applying diversified knowledge of project controls principles and practices.
  • Capability of making independent decisions
  • Ability to perform all work in a safe manner that meets company & client standards
  • Must be self-motivated and exercise self-initiative
  • Perform work in a professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others in a positive manner
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment and work conditions
  • Ability to work independently, handle and prioritize a variety of tasks concurrently, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to project sites across Alaska as required, including multi-day remote site visits on a quarterly basis
  • Strong written and verbal communication – must be confident and comfortable in all aspects of project controls processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with team members at all levels, agency representatives, clients and subcontractors
  • High-level computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.
