Job summary

HDR is seeking a Project Controls Manager to lead and enforce project controls across highway and bridge projects in the United States. You will partner with designers, contractors, inspectors and clients to ensure schedules, costs and change management are tightly controlled.

Preferred candidates have 7+ years in project controls, PMI-SP/PMP or similar, Primavera proficiency, and the ability to develop construction schedules.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction, engineering or related field.
  • Certifications (one or more): CPE, CEP, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, PMP, CCM, PRMP, DRMP, CFCC, PE, MCSA: BI Reporting
  • Proficiency in Primavera or other scheduling software
  • Experience with cost and resource loaded schedules
  • Ability to develop and interpret construction schedules
  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available

Responsibilities

  • Manage and enforce adherence to project controls practices and procedures.
  • Partner with designers, contractors, inspectors and third parties to identify, communicate and resolve variances.
  • Establish a procedural framework for preparing, reporting and reconciling variances, including developing reporting tools.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators and report to project staff and clients.
  • Lead coordination meetings across business groups and with stakeholders.
  • Review project change documentation for compliance with procedures and contract specs, and establish project schedules and cost controls.

As a Project Controls Manager your primary focus will be to manage and enforce adherence to the project controls practices and procedures related to both change management and records management. You will be required to partner with designers, contractors, inspectors and other third-party entities to proactively identify, communicate and resolve variances related to both scope and pricing. You will also be responsible for establishing a procedural framework for preparing, reporting and reconciling variances, including developing and/or enhancing reporting procedures and tools. The successful candidate be required to develop and monitor key performance indicators and report to both project staff and clients. You will also be asked to proactively seek collaboration and cooperation across business groups and to set up and lead coordination meetings. Other responsibilities include reviewing project change documentation to ensure compliance with change procedures and contract specifications along with establishing project schedules, forecast and other cost controls procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Construction, engineering or related field

Certifications (one or more): CPE, CEP, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, PMP, CCM, PRMP, DRMP, CFCC, PE, MCSA: BI Reporting

Proficiency in using Primavera, and/or other scheduling software

Experience with cost and resource loaded schedules

Ability to develop and interpret construction schedules

Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in project controls work on engineering and construction projects, including planning, estimating, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and project reports
  • Ability to manage proposal preparation, contract review and negotiation, client relationship and win strategy for medium to large EPC Projects
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple long- and short-term tasks simultaneously
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position
