Job summary

The role requires 8+ years in project controls, budgeting, forecasting, EAC, cost reporting, and strong analytical/communication skills to partner with PM, engineering, construction, and finance teams. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in project controls, cost controls, project finance, or related disciplines supporting large-scale capital projects.
• Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, earned value management, cost analysis, financial reporting, and change management.
• Experience supporting owner-side capital projects within pharmaceutical, biotech, manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data and project performance metrics to stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead project cost management activities including budgeting, forecasting, accrual tracking, cost reporting, and EAC development for a large capital project.
• Monitor overall project financial performance, analyze cost variances, track contingency utilization, and identify budget risks and mitigation opportunities.
• Partner with project management, engineering, construction, procurement, finance, and scheduling teams to ensure accurate project forecasting and cost tracking.
• Support change management efforts by evaluating cost impacts, incorporating approved scope changes, and maintaining project cost baselines.
• Assist in developing and standardizing project controls tools, reporting dashboards, templates, and best practices to improve visibility and consistency across projects.

Piper Companies is seeking a Project Controls Lead to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organization for an onsite contract opportunity in Clayton, NC. The Project Controls Lead will be responsible for overseeing cost management activities on a major capital expansion project while helping improve project controls processes, reporting, and consistency across a broader project portfolio.

Responsibilities of the Project Controls Lead include:

• Lead project cost management activities including budgeting, forecasting, accrual tracking, cost reporting, and estimate-at-completion (EAC) development for a large capital project.

Compensation for the Project Controls Lead:

• Salary Range: $150,000-$180,000/year (USD)
