Job summary

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a Project Controls Intern to assist with cost control, financial projections, payroll and contract administration on a Lone Tree, CO project. You will gain exposure to accounting data entry, taxes, procurement and project controls processes across a large multi-state program.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration within the Project Controls team, in a dynamic, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred
  • Basic understanding of financial terms and calculations (Gain, Loss, Forecast, etc.)
  • Experience with project controls software such as Excel and Primavera is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the team with the cost control system
  • Help analyze construction costs including production of cost reports and labor reports as required
  • Help drive compliance programs including: employment compliance, environmental regulations, transportation regulations and accounting policies
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state sales/use taxes, payroll and property taxes
  • Help administer contracts including documentation to support subcontracts, material contracts and owner progress estimates
  • Involvement in the project office setup

Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a Project Controls Intern. As a Project Controls Intern you will learn to support the administration of business aspects of an assigned project, including troubleshooting project conditions, accounting data entry, performing financial projections, providing support to human resources as well as handling payroll, procurement, taxes, contract administration, and company or outside equipment rent for the project.

Location

This position is based in our Lone Tree, CO office.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the team with the cost control system.
  • Help analyze construction costs including production of cost reports and labor reports as required.
  • Help drive compliance programs including: employment compliance, environmental regulations, transportation regulations and accounting policies.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state sales/use taxes, payroll and property taxes.

  • Involvement in the project office setup.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred
  • Basic understanding of financial terms and calculations (Gain, Loss, Forecast, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of standard cost control methods utilized in the execution of various types of project (EPC, Joint Venture, Lump Sum, etc)
  • Experience with some project controls software such as Excel and Primavera is preferred
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt

Base Compensation: $21.00/hr - $25.00/hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
