Job summary

Kiewit Corporation’s Integrative Engineering & Technology Solutions (IETS) is seeking an Integrative Engineer Intern in our Lone Tree, Colorado office. The intern will gain experience through mentorship, formal training, and on-the-job practice within a dynamic IETS team, focusing on requirements management and systems engineering tasks.

The role offers exposure to ISO and INCOSE standards, MATLAB? and project tooling, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an Engineering related program at an accredited university or college.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Experience with Python and SQL.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute with logical thinking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of Requirements Management Tools (IBM DOORS, IBM DOORS NG, Helix ALM, Visure, or Jama Connect) - an asset.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering fundamentals including V-model lifecycle - an asset.
  • Knowledge of the following Requirements Management practices - an asset: ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, INCOSE Handbook.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, apply, and follow applicable company procedures, project requirements, and Systems Engineering standards.
  • Review contract, client, standard, code, and regulation documents to identify, interpret, and document technical and non-technical requirements.
  • Support Requirements Management activities, including requirements capture, definition, allocation, attribute assignment, repository maintenance, and RVTM development.
  • Support Requirements Verification and Validation activities by coordinating discipline input and review information.
  • Use project tools, templates, trackers, and SharePoint-based workflows to organize requirements information and support reporting.
  • Coordinate and communicate with discipline teams, project stakeholders, and supervisors to collect input and complete assigned Systems Engineering tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement of Kiewit Requirements Management and Systems Engineering processes by identifying lessons learned and opportunities to improve templates and workflows.

Position Overview

The Integrative Engineering & Technology Solutions (IETS) department is looking for an Integrative Engineer Intern (also named an IETS Analyst Intern) to join our dynamic team of professionals. This role offers learning opportunities through independent study, formal training, mentorship, and on the job practice. The objective is for the IETS Analyst Intern to acquire the knowledge and skills to work collaboratively within the IETS team, performing tasks as assigned.

This position is based out of our Lone Tree, Colorado office.

Responsibilities
  • Learn, apply, and follow applicable company procedures, project requirements, and Systems Engineering standards, including relevant Kiewit Engineering procedures, INCOSE guidance, and ISO/IEEE 15288 principles.
  • Review contract, client, standard, code, and regulation documents to identify, interpret, and document technical and non-technical requirements.
  • Support Requirements Management activities, including requirements capture, definition, allocation, attribute assignment, repository maintenance, and Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) development.
  • Support Requirements Verification and Validation activities by coordinating discipline input, tracking verification methods, phases, evidence, compliance status, and related review information.
  • Use project tools, templates, trackers, and SharePoint-based workflows to organize requirements information, maintain current project data, and support reporting or dashboard updates.
  • Coordinate and communicate with discipline teams, project stakeholders, and supervisors to collect input, clarify requirements, resolve comments, and complete assigned Systems Engineering tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement of Kiewit Requirements Management and Systems Engineering processes by identifying lessons learned, process gaps, and opportunities to improve templates, workflows, and project execution

Base Compensation

$20.00/hr - $25.00/hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
