Job summary

HDR is looking for a Project Controls Estimator I based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This role is responsible for developing and reviewing capital and construction cost estimates across various markets, including Waste and Power.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and experience in the construction industry. Preferred qualifications include certifications in project control and estimating software proficiency.

Qualifications

• Fundamental knowledge of General Contracting and EPC construction methods.
• Proficiency with cost estimating and project control software.
• Experience in construction industry, especially Waste, Power or Industrial sectors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for estimates.
• Demonstrate understanding of construction plans when preparing cost estimates.
• Coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain estimate data.

Skills

Knowledge of estimating software such as Sage

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Position Overview

Project Controls Estimator I - Responsible for developing and reviewing capital, construction and service cost estimates across Waste, Power and Industrial markets. Focus on crew-based approach, quantity takeoffs, estimate database management, and documentation of basis and assumptions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates.
• Work on estimates ranging from order-of-magnitude for planning, preliminary for study, to definitive for proposals.
• Demonstrate understanding of construction plans and specifications when preparing cost estimates.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters.
• Develop estimates for any part or the whole project, or for project changes.
• Coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain estimate scope and schedule data.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: AEP, CCT, CEP, CACM, CMIT, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, EIT.
• Knowledge of estimating software such as Sage, Assemble, RS Means.
• Experience in construction industry, especially Waste, Power or Industrial sectors.
• Ability to interpret construction schedules.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of General Contracting, EPC construction methods, processes, and procedures, plus general construction industry methods, terminology, and organizational structure.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, cost estimating, and project control software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
