OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is looking for a Mid-level Project Controls Engineer, proficient in both schedule and cost, to support the Nuclear Sciences & Technology Business Unit. The position can be executed from any of the following NST offices:

• Los Alamos, NM
• Albuquerque, NM
• Greenwood Village, CO

Typical annual pay range for this position is $84,000 - $110,000. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Project Controls Engineer will develop and maintain reports of hours, cost, earned value, and revenue forecasts for several related time and materials projects. This person will assist the project manager in managing project costs including functions such as project setup, reporting, accruals, invoicing, and closeout. As a Project Controls Engineer, you will be heavily involved in change management, both internally and with the client, and will assist in subcontractor management and reporting, including management of subcontract documents and reporting of subcontractor cost and schedule performance. This person must be able to work well independently, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team setting.

The Project Controls Engineer should have the ability and/or interest to do the following:

• Provide Project Controls services on assigned Project Teams, monitoring planning, scheduling, cost engineering, and trend engineering.
• Communicate professionally, calmly, and effectively.
• Use system data to prepare monthly hours, costs, earned value, and revenue forecasts.
• Have expert capability in Microsoft Excel, including manipulating large and complex spreadsheets, macros, and pivot tables.
• Utilize cost data to track and control budgets, commitments, accruals, expenditures, and contingency for the project duration.
• Identify project cost exposures and overruns promptly to enable informed mitigation decisions.
• Interact directly with clients while supporting project management efforts.
• Work closely with the project accounting team to provide invoices and support.
• Coordinate with accounts receivable and accounts payable teams for timely submittals and payments.
• Meet attendance and punctuality expectations.
• Familiarity with unpopulated Joint Venture accounting systems and relationships is a plus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree.
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in Project Controls (Planning & Scheduling, Cost Engineering, Estimating) or a similar field.
• Experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction fields.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Familiarity with basic project control software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.

• Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint.
