Job summary

Centrisys/CNP is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to join our team, supporting electrical controls for industrial equipment. You will test, troubleshoot, and optimize control panels, integrate PLC/HMI/VFD programs, and ensure compliance with UL508A, UL698A, and NEC.

Responsibilities include developing documentation, updating drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and providing remote support. A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field is required, with 2–3 years of hands-on

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field required.
• 2-3 years hands-on experience in electrical controls, automation, or industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical control systems (480/120/24V), PLCs, HMIs, and automation.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, controls logic, P&ID diagrams, and specs.
• Familiarity with UL/NEC standards and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.
• Valid driver’s license; background check and drug screening; travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform machine function testing to ensure control panel components and wiring meet design requirements and UL/NEC standards.
• Develop, modify, and optimize PLC, HMI, and VFD programs for operation of industrial equipment.
• Integrate control system hardware/software into new builds and retrofits; handle wiring, terminations, and labeling.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits and control systems during checkout, startup, and field service (480/120/24V).
• Provide remote technical support via phone, email, and remote connections.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including electrical drawings, controller tag lists, narratives, and controls documents.
• Update drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

We are currently seeking a Project Controls Engineer to join our team.

Duties & Key Responsibilities

• Perform machine function testing to ensure control panel components, field devices, and wiring perform per design and meet UL508A, UL698A, and NEC requirements
• Develop, modify, and optimize PLC, HMI, and VFD programs to support industrial and process equipment operation
• Integrate control system hardware and software (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, safety devices, relays, etc.) into new builds and retrofit machinery builds. Electrical wiring, terminations, and labeling.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control systems, and drives during machine checkout, startup, and field service: 480/120/24V
• Provide remote technical support for electrical and control system troubleshooting, via phone, email, and remote connections
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including electrical drawings, controller tag lists, process narratives, and controls operational documents
• Perform drawing updates in Solidworks and AutoCAD

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering preferred
• 2-3 years of related hands-on day-to-day experience in electrical controls, automation, or industrial equipment required; 3-5 years preferred
• Working knowledge of electrical control systems (480/120/24V), PLCs, HMIs, and industrial/process automation
• Skilled in interpreting electrical schematics, controls logic, P&ID diagrams, and technical specification documentation
• Working knowledge of UL and NEC standards, and familiarity with industrial network protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record, pre-employment background check & drug screening required
• Travel required as needed
