Job summary

Aleut Federal is seeking a Project Controls Director to lead program control management and finance operations for multiple business units, reporting to the VP of FP&A. This role supports a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office) and can be located in Arlington or Reston, VA.

Responsibilities include overseeing cost/reporting accuracy, budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing, with strong FAR/GPR knowledge and experience managing finance staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field.
• 12+ years of related experience, including 5+ years managing PC/Finance staff.
• Knowledge of FAR and Government Procurement Regulations (GPR).
• Excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
• Strong time management, self-driven, and organizational skills.
• Strong knowledge of Costpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, databases, and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate financial reporting for cost, revenue, and profitability for internal and client reporting.
• Review and validate actual project costs for labor, materials, ODCs, and travel.
• Participate in financial planning and forecasting; provide strategic management information.
• Oversee month-end budget-to-actual variance analysis.
• Oversee preparation of month-end revenue and cost accruals.
• Generate quarterly EAC review packages for senior leadership.
• Manage accounts receivable and vendor invoices; ensure timely invoicing and resolve issues.
• Track and reconcile period-time reporting; support corrective actions.
• Monitor contract cost performance and funding; ensure contractual reporting compliance.
• Monitor AP/AR; address past-due and unbilled receivables; mitigate overhead overruns.
• Lead finance and accounting kickoff meetings for new projects; assist where needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Controls Director will provide various business operations services and program control management support for multiple business units, reporting directly to the VP of FP&A.

This role will be on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office) and can be located in Arlington, VA or Reston, VA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for accuracy in financial reporting for cost, revenue, and profitability internally to the division and finance department and externally to the client(s) by contractual obligations to meet cost objectives.
• Review, validate, and report actual project costs incurred for labor, material, ODCs, and travel.
• Participate in financial planning and forecasting for operations and business. Provide management with strategic planning, performance measurement, and organizational decision-making information.
• Provide oversight of monthly budget to actual variance analysis.
• Provide oversight over the preparation of month-end revenue and cost accruals.
• Generates quarterly EAC review packages for senior leadership.
• Manage program accounts receivable, including working with the billing department to ensure prompt and accurate monthly invoicing, perform unbilled analysis, and resolve billing issues.
• Manage, process, and track vendor invoices, working closely with accounts payable.
• Create account charge numbers, compile/verify/reconcile period-time reporting for accuracy, and assist with corrective actions.
• Solving problems with limited supervision and as a business team member.
• Monitor contract cost performance, address notification of funding limitations, ensure external reporting meets the contractual requirements, and ensure group responsibilities, including invoicing and financial contract close-out.
• Track Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable for Aleut Federal and help resolve issues with past-due and unbilled receivables.
• Monitor the business group's overhead expenditures and assist with developing a mitigation plan if the actuals do not track to budget.
• Lead finance and accounting kick-off meetings for new projects.
• Assist where needed within the Finance organization.
