Job summary

Hernandez Consulting & Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the design and construction of a large federal healthcare/residential project in New Orleans. The APM will work closely with the Construction Manager, design team, GC, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout the project.

A significant portion involves construction scheduling, schedule updates, progress tracking, and project controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial construction or related roles.
• Demonstrated experience with construction schedules and schedule updates.
• Understand sequencing, milestones, and design-procurement-field relationships.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specs.
• Experience with CPM scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Experience on large commercial, healthcare, institutional, or federal projects.
• Experience with Procore or similar PM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, maintenance, and updates of the CPM construction schedule.
• Collect schedule data and progress updates from project participants.
• Update start/finish dates, durations, milestones, and procurement activities.
• Review schedule updates for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor critical activities and identify potential delays.
• Prepare schedule narratives, look-ahead schedules, and progress reports.
• Track design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout activities.
• Maintain records supporting schedule updates and changes.
• Support project meetings and distribute accurate minutes and action items.
• Assist with change-order review, pricing, and cost tracking.
