Base pay range

$135,000.00/yr - $155,000.00/yr

Project Controller

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $135,000 - $1550,000 + bonus

Piper Maddox are exclusively partnered with a leading utility scale renewable energy IPP as they make a critical hire into their finance function. As a Project Controller you will play a key role in overseeing the financial performance of some of the largest solar / storage & wind project in the US.

Our client has one of the biggest portfolios of operational assets in the US, and a pipeline of over 10GW of assets in development. As part of their complex finance function, you will work closely with the executive committee, as well as external investors to provide accurate oversight of the performance of their assets.

What you will do:

• Oversee day-to-day project accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting in coordination with the Accounting team.
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports for external stakeholders including investors, lenders, and hedge counterparties.
• Collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure accurate accounting for plant activities and project offtake agreements.
• Conduct cash management forecasting, including project distributions, debt repayments, and liquidity analysis.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis efforts.
• Manage annual audit processes and support various audit/compliance engagements (e.g., tax compliance, cost segregation studies).
• Support investment/divestment decision-making with financial insights, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
• Translate complex financial and accounting data for non-financial internal stakeholders.

What you will have:

• 6+ years of experience in a similar role or in public accounting with exposure to large-scale projects
• Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
• Prior experience with ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 842 (Leases)
• Experience in renewable energy project accounting and financial analysis
• Strong understanding of financial statement impacts driven by business decisions
