Job description

Senior Project Controls Analyst – Electric Utilities

Role: Senior Project Controls Analyst (PCA)

Experience: 5+ years

Industry: Electric Utilities

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Competitive, DOE

About the Opportunity

Are you a Project Controls Analyst who has built a strong foundation in the utility industry and is ready to take the next step in your career?

Premier Finder is partnering with a growing project management and consulting firm to hire a Senior Project Controls Analyst supporting major electric utility capital programs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an up-and-coming project controls professional who wants more than simply maintaining schedules and producing reports. You’ll take greater ownership of project performance, work directly with project managers and utility stakeholders, and help drive the cost and schedule insights that keep complex infrastructure projects moving forward.

You’ll join a team where strong performers have the opportunity to expand their responsibilities, gain exposure to increasingly complex projects, and continue developing toward project controls and project management leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior PCA, you’ll provide project controls support across a portfolio of electric utility capital projects, helping project teams understand where projects stand, where they’re headed, and what needs attention.

Project Controls & Forecasting
  • Manage and analyze project cost, schedule, forecast, and performance data.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Monitor project milestones, critical activities, dependencies, and schedule performance.
  • Support monthly forecasting, budgeting, accruals, variance analysis, and change management.
  • Analyze cost and schedule trends to identify emerging risks before they impact project delivery.
  • Help ensure forecasts accurately reflect current project scope, schedules, commitments, and execution plans.
Analysis & Reporting
  • Translate project data into clear, actionable insights for Project Managers and leadership.
  • Develop project controls reports, dashboards, forecasts, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze schedule and cost variances and help project teams understand the drivers behind performance.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate project controls documentation and data within applicable systems of record.
Project & Stakeholder Support
  • Partner closely with Project Managers, engineers, construction teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in project reviews and provide clear updates on cost, schedule, forecast, and risk.
  • Challenge assumptions when needed and help project teams develop realistic forecasts and execution plans.
  • Support multiple projects while maintaining strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who has already established themselves in project controls and is ready for greater ownership.

Required
  • 5+ years of Project Controls Analyst / project controls experience.
  • Direct project controls experience supporting electric utility projects or programs.
  • Hands-on experience using Primavera P6 for project scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of project cost, schedule, forecasting, variance analysis, and change management.
  • Experience supporting capital projects through multiple phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate project performance clearly to Project Managers and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Highly Preferred
  • Experience supporting electric transmission, distribution, substation, generation, or other utility capital programs.
  • Experience working with an Investor-Owned Utility (IOU), public utility, EPC, or utility consulting organization.
  • Familiarity with cost-loaded and/or resource-loaded schedules.
  • Experience with project reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
Who Will Thrive Here

You’ll likely be a strong fit if you’re the PCA others already rely on when something doesn’t look right.

You understand that project controls is more than updating a schedule or reporting last month’s numbers. You want to understand why a project is trending the way it is, communicate that story to the project team, and help influence what happens next.

Most importantly, you’re looking for an environment where you can continue building your technical expertise while gaining the ownership, client exposure, and project leadership experience needed to take the next step in your career.

Why Join?
  • Support major electric utility infrastructure programs with tangible impact.
  • Take greater ownership of projects rather than operating as a reporting resource.
  • Work alongside experienced Project Managers and project controls professionals.
  • Expand your exposure across cost, schedule, forecasting, risk, and project delivery.
  • Join a growing organization where high performers can build toward Lead PCA, Project Controls Manager, or Project Management opportunities.

If you have 5+ years of project controls experience, hands-on Primavera P6 expertise, and a background supporting electric utility projects, we’d like to hear from you.
