Job summary

Sika in Michigan seeks a seasoned scientist/engineer to transfer new products and technologies to production, evaluate competing technologies and manage projects from idea to release. You will lead DOE studies and apply Six Sigma tools across cross-functional teams.

Strong in thermoplastics/thermosets for automotive OEMs, with hotmelt chemistry preferred. Excellent communication and presentation skills, plus solid MS Office proficiency, are essential to succeed at Sika.

Qualifications

• Requires BS, MS or PhD in General Sciences.
• Minimum 7 years in thermoplastics/thermosets in automotive OEM market.
• Preferred experience in Hotmelt Chemistry.
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills.
• Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Transfer new products/technologies to production.
• Evaluate competitive technologies, raw materials and processes.
• Manage projects from idea to product release.
• Review Idea Proposals and feasibility studies per PCP process.
• Perform DOE-based experiments and apply statistical methods.
• Apply IATF quality tools and Six Sigma in cross-functional work.
• Contact suppliers and identify new materials/technologies for Sika.
• Lead customer interactions and negotiate testing criteria for approvals.
• Visit assembly plants to provide technical solutions.
• Identify equipment and execute RPA for new programs.
• Propose and champion new formulations and solutions.
• Apply advanced analytical methods (rheology, spectroscopy) in projects.
