Job summary

IMI Industrial in Topeka, KS seeks a Project Buyer to drive procurement for multiple large-scale material handling projects. You will source, purchase, and coordinate delivery of materials, equipment, and services while balancing cost, schedule, and quality.

Expect collaboration with engineering, project management, suppliers, and logistics partners to keep projects on track. You will review drawings and BOMs, negotiate pricing, manage POs and subcontracts, and track orders and budget

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement across 5-6 active core projects, aligning with schedules and budgets.
• Review drawings, BOMs, and specs to determine material requirements.
• Source and purchase conveyor components, mechanical assemblies, structural steel, motors, drives, bearings, belts, rollers, controls, and fabricated parts.
• Issue and manage purchase orders and subcontracts for core project scopes.
• Analyze quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms.
• Coordinate freight and logistics with 3PL partners for on-time delivery.
• Track orders and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Monitor project budgets and support cost control.
• Manage onsite rentals and off-renting of equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors on changes.
• Maintain procurement records in ERP/MRP.

As a Project Buyer, you are an active member of multiple project teams, supporting the successful execution of large-scale material handling projects. You play a key role in sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the delivery of materials, equipment, and services needed to keep projects on track.

In this role, you'll manage procurement for 5-6 concurrent core projects, balancing cost, schedule, and quality while working closely with engineering, project management, suppliers, and logistics partners. You'll build strong vendor relationships, ensure alignment with project budgets and timelines, and proactively solve supply chain challenges as they arise.

In this role, you will:

• Manage procurement activities across 5-6 active core projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgets.
• Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and project specifications to determine material and service requirements.
• Source and purchase materials including conveyor components, mechanical assemblies, structural steel, motors, drives, bearings, belts, rollers, controls, and fabricated parts.
• Issue and manage purchase orders and subcontracts for core project scopes.
• Analyze supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to meet project goals.
• Coordinate freight and logistics for core projects, working with 3PL partners to ensure on-time delivery.
• Track orders, expedite critical materials, and proactively mitigate supply chain risks.
• Monitor and track project budgets, supporting cost control and budget comparisons.
• Manage onsite rentals and ensure proper utilization and off-renting of equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to resolve supply or scope changes.
• Maintain accurate procurement records within ERP/MRP systems.
• Support supplier performance tracking and ongoing relationship development
