Job summary

RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC in New York, NY, seeks a Project Associate/Project Engineer for its Facade & Roofing department. The candidate will support administrative and technical management of exterior envelope projects, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and ensure compliance with DOB/LPC requirements.

The role requires a 4-year degree in architecture or engineering, 2–5 years of exterior repair/roofing experience, and strong written/verbal communication and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

  • 4-Year Degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in designing and administering exterior repair/roofing projects.
  • New York experience is required.
  • Experience with FISP inspections and reports preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall administrative and technical management support on façade/roofing opportunities from RAND proposal preparation through final acceptance by client.
  • Examine building exterior envelopes, develop work scopes and provide budget projections.
  • Local Law 11/FISP reporting, site inspections, recording conditions, report writing, compiling findings for DOB.
  • Establish project objectives, procedures and performance standards within corporate policy; coordinate designs with other disciplines.
  • Prepare construction documents and details to address all deficiencies per DOB and LPC guidelines.
  • Conduct contractor bid solicitations/reviews.
  • Perform construction observation and special inspections, issue site visit reports, and maintain dialogue with LPC if applicable.
  • Create and maintain project schedules, issue change orders, review payments, oversee close-out.

Founded in 1987, RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC is an employee-owned 115+ person Manhattan-based firm that designs, specifies, and administers restoration, upgrade, and adaptive re-use programs on behalf of owners, managers, and co-op and condo boards.   • Conduct contractor bid solicitations/reviews.
  • Perform construction observation and special inspections, issue site visit reports, and establish on-going dialogue with LPC, if applicable.
  • Create and maintain project schedules, issue change orders, review payment applications and oversee completion of project close-out.
  • Actively monitor project budgets to ensure profitability, and develop/maintain client relationships. Identify new work opportunities and inform Client Services of potential projects with new or current clients.
Requirements
  • 4-Year Degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in designing and administering exterior repair/roofing projects
  • Applicants must be well versed in and have a strong interest in all facets of building exterior envelope, weatherproofing, masonry repair, historic preservation, landmarks and roofing projects, as well as FISP inspections and reports.
  • New York experience is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated mastery in: estimating, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, construction observation, client relationship, interpersonal skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organization and leadership skills, as well as ability to train others and monitor their work for quality and completeness.
The pay range for this role is:

75,000 - 95,000 USD per year(Office)
