Founded in 1987, RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC is an employee-owned 115+ person Manhattan-based firm that designs, specifies, and administers restoration, upgrade, and adaptive re-use programs on behalf of owners, managers, and co-op and condo boards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide structural analysis and design related to repair and renovation of existing structures, including exterior envelope repair and antiquated structural systems.
  • Supervise the preparation of structural construction documents suitable for approval by local AHJ’s as well as bidding/pricing, including written material and technical specifications.
  • Work with 3D models for production (Revit) and analysis (RAM)
  • Compile formal bidding documents, including RFP’s for contractors.
  • Perform site visits to ascertain existing structural systems in order to develop code-complaint structural construction documents.
  • Develop technical reports, written work scope recommendations, and proposals based on coordinating with contractors and consulting with clients at all stages of a project. Act as the point of contact for all project-related inquiries.
  • Administer the construction phase of a construction project, including reviewing submittals, responding to contractor RFI’s, reviewing payment applications, developing change order documentation, coordinating sign-off, etc.
  • Ensure that required special inspections are performed and completed during construction by coordinating with clients, contractors and other in-house staff.
  • Monitor and maintain project budgets. Work with in-house project accountants to produce monthly invoices.
  • Directly supervise junior Engineers and drafters on the Structural Team in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • · Manage multiple projects simultaneously and be responsible for individual time management while communicating with team and company leadership
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and be responsive and accountable to multiple in-house and external stakeholders.

Candidates must have the following credentials and qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in New York State (PE’s from other states will also be considered)
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent; MS or equivalent in Civil Engineering preferred
  • 8 years of experience in the design of renovations, new buildings, superstructures, and foundations
  • 2 years of experience managing projects, staff, schedules and budgets
  • Excellent verbal skills, including the ability to write technical reports and represent the company at client meetings
  • Thorough understanding of relevant local building codes, including the 1968 New York City Building where appropriate for repair projects.
