Job summary

Gensler is seeking a Project Architect in Chicago to translate sketches into 2D/3D models and manage design through construction documentation. You will collaborate with Practice Area Leaders and Design Directors, mentor teammates, and ensure coordinated documentation with consultants.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Architecture, licensure, 5+ years of commercial design experience, and proficiency with Revit and other design tools. Portfolio and resume in PDF are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited school
  • Licensure required
  • 5+ years of experience with commercial architectural design
  • Experience with Higher Education projects (schools, colleges, and universities) is preferred
  • Proficiency with SketchUp, 3D Max, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred, but not required
  • Strong Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office experience desired
  • AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape, VRay also beneficial
  • Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants
  • Experience working directly with contractors
  • Experience resolving complex technical and design issues
  • Experience performing zoning and code analysis in multiple jurisdictions
  • Understanding of how buildings are constructed, along with the ability to create technical documents that succinctly, thoroughly, and accurately describe the work to be done
  • Understanding of sustainable and universal design concepts
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills
  • Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferable. Especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel and/or Net Zero Building certification
  • Portfolio and resume in PDF format required for consideration

Responsibilities

Overview

As a Gensler Project Architect you will collaborate with our Practice Area Leaders and Design Directors to develop design solutions as well as coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project. You will be successful because you already know how to translate an architect's sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. What You Will Do
