Job summary

Perkins&Will in Seattle is seeking a Project Architect to lead lab-focused design and MEP coordination for Science & Tech spaces. You will protect the research function, translating programmatic needs into buildable systems while navigating permitting and value engineering.

Responsibilities include coordinating with engineering consultants, guiding QA across phases, and mentoring staff. A strong background in lab planning and architecture is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture is required.
• Architectural license is required.
• 8–10+ years of lab planning experience is a plus.
• LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
• Living Design accreditation (LEED AP, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC/CPHD, ILFI) encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of design and delivery on Science & Tech projects, upholding firm standards and design intent.
• Coordinate architecture, interior design, and lab planning with MEP consultants.
• Direct project documentation, QA reviews, and constructibility checks, especially in lab spaces.
• Manage regulatory reviews, AHJ submissions, and permitting complexities for lab occupancies.
• Mentor staff and lead design reviews to drive decisive outcomes, not just discussion.
