Job summary

Perkins&Will's San Francisco studio—a 100-person team within a 3,000-person global firm—seeks a Senior Project Architect adept at technical detailing and coordinating complex documents for lab sciences projects.

You will own the drawing set, lead QA/QC reviews, coordinate with MEP consultants, and serve as the client’s technical voice. The role offers growth, mentorship, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related discipline, required.
• Architectural license.
• 8–10+ years S&T lab planning experience, vivarium experience a plus.
• LEED GA within 6 months of hire.
• One Living Design accreditation: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Manage the drawing set of a complex, multi-discipline Lab Sciences building.
• Direct project documentation and drawing production, and lead QA/QC reviews at every phase for accuracy, constructability, and completeness.
• Coordinate architecture, interior design, and lab planning with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and process engineering consultants.
• Serve as the technical voice to the client, translating programmatic requirements to building systems.
• Manage regulatory review and AHJ submissions for code, life safety, and hazardous materials.
• Run construction contract administration on technically complex builds.
• Mentor staff to grow their judgment on technically demanding project types.
• Stay current on lab planning standards, containment strategies, and building tech.
