Job summary

Hord Coplan Macht, Inc. seeks a Project Architect (10-15 YOE) to join our Senior Living practice in Alexandria, VA. You will lead design development, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and drive accurate documentation from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in architecture, strong communication and presentation skills, and familiarity with codes. LEED/WELL credentials are a plus; licensed professionals are preferred. Salary is competitive with robust benefits.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in the architectural field.
  • License preferred; non-licensed with required years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • A passion for designing high-quality, built environments that enrich the lives of those living with age and income restrictions.
  • Experience with Senior Living or Hospitality projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience with project teams.
  • Excellent design, graphic, and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading client meetings and sub-consultant coordination.
  • Experience in preparing construction documents and construction administration.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • LEED and/or WELL Building credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a thorough understanding of the project’s design philosophy and provides input in developing a design and building performance strategy and effectively conveys this to assigned team members when appropriate.
  • Contributes to the project’s technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination, and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with the Senior Designer.
  • Seeks creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develops appropriate research and documents to support these solutions.
  • Actively collaborates with and coordinates work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
  • Contributes to the preparation of design documents and detailed development of construction documents during all project phases.
  • Delivers complete, accurate, and coordinated project documentation.
  • Advances the production of schematic, design development and construction documents in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost and design intent.
  • Maintains awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
  • Reviews shop drawings, material samples and CDs for conformance with design.
  • Maintains contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as required

About Our Search

Our Baltimore, Denver, Alexandria, and North Carolina offices are looking for strong Project Designers/Project Architects to join our award-winning Senior Living team. Our next team member will have excellent communication, design, graphic, and visualization skills. This individual will manage, organize, and coordinate with the design and technical project teams throughout the design process to successfully execute architectural projects.
