Ballinger, a respected Architecture & Engineering Firm, seeks a Project Architect to lead healthcare, corporate, science, and academic projects. You will mentor staff, coordinate design across disciplines, and interact with clients and contractors to ensure quality outcomes.

The role is hybrid, based in Philadelphia, with three on-site days per week. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, and Adobe Suite is essential.

Qualifications

  • As a Project Architect, you must possess superb production, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Minimum 10–20 years of experience in building design and documentation in academic and research buildings preferred.
  • Registered Architect and strong Revit/Bluebeam proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects with healthcare, corporate, science, and academic teams.
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications that meet codes and client requirements.
  • Mentor less experienced staff and lead internal/external project leadership.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary design and documentation sets.
  • Present to clients and manage budget adherence.

This is a hybrid role based in Philadelphia, PA- on site three (3) days per week.

Role Summary

Your focus as a Project Architect will involve leading projects of varying sizes in a collaborative atmosphere partnering with Senior Project Architects, Senior Project Designers and Principals. In addition to significant client involvement, we expect you will have regular professional interaction with our healthcare, corporate, science and academic teams, and provide employee mentoring to less experienced staff while being mentored by Senior Project Architects.

Responsibilities
  • Designing, analyzing, detailing, and documenting healthcare academic or corporate buildings
  • Preparing technical drawings and specifications to ensure that their construction conforms to specifications, codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Coordinating with both architecture and engineering team members to deliver an integrated set of documents across the discipline
  • Generate red lines in a documentation set
  • Accountability for budget adherence
  • Act as a firm-wide mentor
  • Advise on Firm Standards (RUG/Technical/ Templates/Specs)
  • Engage in internal project leadership (lead a component or discipline within a project team)
  • Engage in external project leadership (lead project with client and contractor)
  • Present and provide day to day support to client and external project team
  • Autonomous internal and external leadership of building or discipline delivery
  • Perform ongoing studies for process improvement
  • Build on industry network, potentially through trade organizations, local events, speaking or conferences where applicable
  • Participate & contribute to performance reviews where applicable
  • Participate in internal committees where applicable
Technical Skills:
  • Ability to take and provide direction within a larger team
  • Develop design or technical solutions with Project Manager and Principal
  • Lead large-scale or multiple projects, develop work plans, and project execution strategies with the Project Manager
  • Self-starter, able to independently generate design solutions and direction to other team members
  • Interfaces and leads all disciplines during the design/coordination phases.
  • Lead construction administration-related activities across the team and all disciplines
  • High level of responsiveness and collaboration with contractors and clients
  • Demonstration of targeted expertise with a key role in the firm
  • Demonstration of superior technical skills, dedication, and ownership of work
  • Proficiency of Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape or other modeling software applications
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Requirements

As a Project Architect with Ballinger, you must possess superb production, analytical, and communication skills and be able to perform well in a design environment.

Additional requirements for the Project Architect include:

  • Bachelor or Master of Architecture
  • Registered Architect required.
  • Highly versed with preparing full sets of design documents using Revit, Bluebeam
  • Minimum 10-20 years of experience in building design and documentation in academic and research buildings experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape or other modeling software applications
  • Superb production, analytical, and communication skills
