Job summary

  • Prepare and review proposals, drawings, specs and documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and resolve design and construction issues to ensure timely solutions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members.

Position Overview

This position provides a wide range of architectural, engineering,landscape, planning, and environmental project design, and projectmanagement and administration services. Working closely withclients, architects, engineers, landscape architects, planning anddesign consultants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders,this position ensures that the university's capital design andconstruction projects meet both aesthetic and functionalrequirements while adhering to budgetary and regulatoryconstraints. This position will coordinate various aspects of theproject, including design development, documentation, constructionoversight, and ensuring compliance with building codes, zoomingregulations and other legal requirements.

Duties may include:

  • Lead capital design and construction projects from inception tocompletion, including developing project plans, timelines andbudgets
  • Create innovative and functional architectural, engineering,and environmental designs that meet the university's requirements,regulatory standards and budgetary constraints
  • Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers,professional consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies andother stakeholders
  • Prepare and review planning, architectural, engineering,landscape architectural, and other proposals, drawings,specifications and construction documents, ensuring accuracy andcompleteness
  • Identify and resolve design, construction, and technical issuesthat may arise during a project, ensuring timely and effectivesolutions
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
  • Five years practicing architecture, engineering or landscapearchitecture
  • Professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Space utilization and planning principles
    • Cost estimating techniques
    • Preparation of construction contracts and documents
    • Analysis of plans and specifications for conformance withbuilding codes and standards
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering,Engineering or Landscape Architecture
Required Other
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to meetpolicy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
Additional Preferred
  • Current, valid State of Idaho professional registration orlicense in Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architecture oreligible for reciprocal registration as provided by Idaho Code
  • Experience on design, construction and/or project managementgroups that maintain and operate a system of buildings andstructures in support of the strategic goals of a large institutionor organization
  • Experience using computer applications commonly used inarchitecture, engineering and landscape architecture (e.g., CADD,3-D modeling and other rendering software)
