Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced Project Architect to join the Grand Rapids office. The role emphasizes technical execution, coordinating with consultants, and delivering construction documents from DD through CA.

You will mentor junior staff, manage schedules and deliverables, and collaborate with clients and internal teams. A licensed architect is preferred, with 8+ years of experience and onsite work at a newly built Cascade office in Michigan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed Architect preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • 8+ years of architectural experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and Vectorworks.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents and building systems.

Job Title: Project ArchitectJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an architect who enjoys the technical aspects of project delivery and has a strong understanding of building systems, construction detailing, code compliance, and construction documentation. The Project Architect will play a critical role in coordinating project teams, developing technical solutions, and ensuring projects move efficiently from schematic design through construction administration. While design collaboration is part of the position, the primary focus is on technical execution and project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of projects from Design Development through Construction Administration.
  • Produce and oversee high-quality construction documents using Revit/Vectorworks.
  • Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil consultants.
  • Review project documents for quality control, constructability, and code compliance.
  • Conduct building code research and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Develop detailed building assemblies, specifications, and technical solutions.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Respond to RFIs, submittals, ASIs, and other construction-phase documentation.
  • Mentor junior architectural staff and support team development.
  • Assist Project Managers in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and Vectorworks.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents.
  • Understanding of building systems, materials, and construction methods.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed Architect preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • 8+ years of architectural experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mentoring junior staff.
  • Experience in coordinating with various consultants.
  • Ability to respond effectively to RFIs and other construction-phase documentation.

Work Environment

The position is based in a newly built office in Cascade, designed with a sporty restaurant vibe that is dark and moody. The work schedule is in-office five days a week, offering flexibility for appointments or other events but no specific work-from-home days. The team is small with a family feel, and the owners ensure all employees feel equal. The role also provides opportunities for leadership development.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
