Job description

Help Shape What's Next at Elevation Studio:

Elevation Studio is looking for an experienced, motivated Project Architect to join our growing Columbus-based architecture and design practice. We specialize in hospitality, retail, commercial interiors, and adaptive reuse, creating spaces that attract customers, streamline operations, and elevate brands to new heights. We're a small, collaborative, fast‑paced studio where architects do more than produce drawings. Our team works directly with clients, contractors, consultants, and community stakeholders to solve problems, navigate complex development processes, and bring projects from concept to completion. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, thrives on variety, and wants to play a meaningful role in both project delivery and the continued growth of our firm.

The Opportunity:

As a Project Architect, you'll lead projects through all phases of design and construction, balancing creative problem‑solving with technical expertise, project management, and client service. You'll have the autonomy to manage projects, the support of an engaged team, and the opportunity to influence how our studio operates and grows.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead Projects: Manage architectural projects from initial programming and design through construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration.
  • Build Relationships: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities.
  • Deliver Quality Design: Develop and coordinate construction documents using Revit, ensuring design quality, technical accuracy, and constructability.
  • Navigate Complex Challenges: Lead building code, zoning, accessibility, entitlement, and permitting coordination.
  • Manage Project Performance: Oversee schedules, deliverables, consultant coordination, project budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate & Mentor: Provide technical guidance to designers and emerging professionals while contributing to a supportive studio environment.
  • Drive Innovation: Help improve our workflows, quality‑control standards, and integration of emerging technologies.
  • Support Growth: Participate in business development, client relationships, proposals, and new project opportunities.
What We're Looking For:
  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architectural design and project delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and construction documentation.
  • Experience coordinating consultants and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, construction methods, and permitting processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Architect in Ohio.
  • 7+ years of professional experience, including project management and direct client interaction.
  • Experience in hospitality, restaurant, retail, commercial interiors, or adaptive‑reuse projects.
  • Familiarity with Columbus and Central Ohio permitting and entitlement processes.
  • Experience managing project schedules, fees, and construction administration.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and other design/presentation tools.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, AI integration, and improving architectural practice.

We believe in rewarding initiative, accountability, and contributions to the firm's success.

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience
  • Quarterly Performance Bonuses: Eligibility for discretionary quarterly bonuses based on individual, project, and firm performance.
  • Business Development Commissions: Eligibility for percentage‑based commission for new clients, subject to the firm's commission policy.
  • 401(k): Employer matching contributions.
  • Flexible Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours per week, with flexible daily scheduling and core availability subject to the firm's policy.
  • Hybrid Opportunities: Situational hybrid work arrangements based on project responsibilities, team collaboration, and studio needs.
  • Paid Time Off: Vacation, personal time, and paid holidays in accordance with firm policies.
  • Professional Development: Support for continuing education, professional involvement, and licensure.
Why Elevation Studio?

At Elevation Studio, we believe great architecture comes from collaboration, creativity, technical expertise, and a commitment to our clients' success. Unlike larger firms where responsibilities may be narrowly defined, our team members are involved in the full lifecycle of a project. You'll have direct access to clients, meaningful influence over design decisions, and the opportunity to see your work become reality.

We offer a collaborative environment that values:
  • Ownership: Take responsibility for your work and make a measurable impact.
  • Flexibility: Balance professional accountability with a schedule that supports your life outside the office.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a talented team, clients, and industry partners.
  • Innovation: Explore new tools, technologies, and approaches to improve how we practice.
  • Growth: Develop your leadership abilities and help shape the future of a growing firm.

If you're an architect who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and delivering great projects, and you're looking for an opportunity to have a meaningful voice in the practice, we'd love to hear from you.
