Job summary

IA Interior Architects seeks a Project Architect or Senior Project Architect in its Charlotte Studio. The candidate must be licensed in North Carolina to sign and stamp drawings and bring 8+ years of corporate workplace interior design experience.

You will create and review CDs, coordinate with design and technical staff, manage contract administration budgets, mentor junior designers, and engage clients to determine technical requirements for the design.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of architecture or design school; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Must be a Licensed Architect in North Carolina to sign/stamp.
  • 8+ years of corporate workplace interior design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create contract documents (CDs) for projects and review for compliance with firm standards.
  • Review CDs for adherence to mechanical, building systems, codes and ADA requirements.
  • For smaller projects, oversee all CD production and review.
  • Coordinate with Senior technical staff and design staff to provide technical solutions.
  • Manage project through contract administration phase.
  • Coordinate engineering consultants' work to ensure design solution and timely submissions.
  • Assist with field surveys if required.
  • Manage contract administration budget for assigned projects.
  • Ensure adherence to budget.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor Junior/Intermediate Designers.
  • Oversee tasks and give feedback on work products.
  • Conduct client interviews to determine technical requirements for the design.

This position requires that you be licensed in North Carolina.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Create contract documents (CDs)
  • Review CDs to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical, building systems, codes and ADA requirements
  • For smaller projects, may oversee all CD production and review

  • Manages project through contract administration phase
  • Coordinates engineering consultant’s work to ensure compliance with design solution and timely submission of documents
  • May be required to assist with support for field surveys

  • Provides Technical leadership, mentors the work of Junior and Intermediate Designers

  • Client-facing - Conducts client interviews to determine technical requirements for the design
Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of design principles and standards
  • Intermediate documentation and field observational skills
  • Advanced interior architecture detailing skills
  • Working knowledge of CDs and procedures
  • Working knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements
  • Working knowledge of space requirements
  • Working knowledge of contract administration
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
  • Advanced Revit skills
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
  • Affinity Program skills or equivalent
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate presentation and graphic communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead junior staff through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise
