Job summary

Jobtailor in San Francisco seeks an experienced Project Accounting Leader to manage and coordinate project accounting activities, review budgets and forecasts, and lead a team of accounting professionals.

You will ensure financial accuracy, implement process improvements, and collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues while ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in project accounting, financial management, or a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience coordinating work or leading project accounting activities preferred.
• Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (CCIFP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate project accounting activities within the business unit.
• Maintain responsibility for project-level accounting tasks.
• Lead, manage, and develop project accounting individuals.
• Process and review project-related owner invoices, project costs, and owner and trade payments.
• Review budgets, costs, commitments, and billings for financial accuracy.
• Prepare and review financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues.
• Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, financial controls, and applicable accounting standards.
• Drive process improvement initiatives and support implementation of changes.
