Job summary

Macdonald & Company represents a vertically integrated real estate investment, management and development firm in the Washington, DC metro area, seeking a Project Accountant to join the Accounting team. The role supports the Accounting Manager and collaborates across Asset Management, Development, and Investments.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to grow in a fast-paced real estate environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
CPA and/or Master of Accounting preferred.
Minimum 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience.
Real estate or private equity experience preferred but not required.
Experience with Yardi or another ERP system preferred.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain project-level general ledgers for a portfolio of development and operating assets.
Prepare quarterly close reporting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and cash management procedures.
Support wire transfers and ACH payments with proper controls.
Prepare financial statements for investors, lenders, and JV partners.
Coordinate audits and tax schedules with external advisors.
Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects.
