Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Project Accountant to join the Finance team. The role leads financial administration, tracks project expenditures, manages invoicing, and oversees accounts receivable/payable on a range of projects.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting knowledge, excels in communication, and can work independently in a dynamic environment with a people-first, project-based setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years accounting experience.
• Strong accounting knowledge and MS Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Review project setups for new and active projects.
• Monitor financial risks and change orders.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and executives.
• Ensure revenue recognition, cost allocation, and percent-complete updates.
• Assist month-end close, WIP and billed in advance reviews.
• Ensure policy compliance and internal controls.
• Review subcontractor agreements, PO approvals and invoices.
• Communicate risks of underperforming projects.
• Mentor and develop project accountants.
• Forecast project performance and revenue.
• Assist AR reconciliation and project close-out in Vista.
• Support AP/AR, month-end close, and process improvements.
