Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group is hiring a Project Accountant to support capital projects and act as the financial gatekeeper for project revenues, costs, and margins. You will collaborate with project teams and clients to improve performance and ensure accurate forecasting and reporting.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration, strong Excel skills, and the ability to meet monthly closing deadlines.

Qualifications

• Relevant financial or accounting experience (preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills
• A working knowledge of equipment and service procurement (preferred)
• An understanding of financial practices, principles, processes, and systems (preferably in a corporate environment)
• Solid interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• The ability to meet monthly closing and project deadlines
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration
• Travel

Responsibilities

• Support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients.
• Help clients make critical changes to improve performance and reach goals.
• Serve as the financial gatekeeper for project revenues, costs, and margins.
• Provide project finance support and analysis to local offices and the region.
• Ensure project set-up complies with GAAP and finance guidelines.
• Review forecasts and enter finalized forecasts into EMS software.
• Review monthly revenue/cost recognition following GAAP.
• Analyze forecast variances and present findings to management.
• Prepare and issue client invoices and ensure timely collections.
• Identify profitability opportunities and advise on risk or reserves.
• Issue purchase orders and verify terms.
• Track labor and expenses; advise on budget variations.
• Ensure compliance with client agreements and internal policies.
• Communicate significant financial matters to project teams and leadership.
• Assist in month-end close and tracking of business trends and KPIs.
• Support proposals and update proposal software; train new staff.
