Job summary

Kelso Industries, a nationwide HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical solutions provider, seeks a Project Accountant to maintain financial records across active construction projects. You will apply POC accounting to revenue, costs, and gross margin per GAAP and company policy, and work with project teams to deliver timely WIP reports and robust project finance management.

You will set up jobs, code invoices, review time sheets, monitor budgets, and support audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7–10 years of project accounting experience in construction or related trades.
• Hands-on POC accounting and WIP schedule preparation.
• Strong GAAP knowledge for long-term construction contracts (ASC 606).
• Proficiency with construction accounting software and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Calculate and record monthly revenue recognition using the cost-to-cost POC method per ASC 606.
• Collaborate with project managers to obtain ETC and reflect current field conditions.
• Identify projects with margin fade, cost overruns, or scope changes affecting POC.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries for over/under billings and cost adjustments.
• Prepare, review, and distribute monthly WIP schedules across divisions.
• Reconcile WIP balances to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor subcontractor invoices, materials, labor, and equipment costs by job.
• Track contract values, change orders, and lien waivers; support collections.
