Job summary

Mullins Mechanical & Welding, Llc seeks a Construction Project Accountant to manage financials for multiple construction projects from startup through closeout at our Dallas, TX office with travel to job sites. Responsibilities include cost monitoring, billing support, and timely financial reporting to project teams and management.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3–5 years of accounting experience with 2+ years in project/construction accounting, strong GAAP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
• 3–5 years accounting experience minimum.
• 2 years project or construction accounting preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles (PoC revenue recognition, job costing, WIP).
• GAAP knowledge required.
• Experience with construction ERP software (ComputerEase/Viewpoint/Netsuite).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial analysis).
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial reporting and accounting for assigned construction projects.
• Monitor job costs, budget performance, and profitability across project lifecycle.
• Review subcontractor invoices for proper coding and approval.
• Assist project managers with forecasting costs, revenue, and cash flow.
• Analyze committed costs, cost-to-complete estimates, and variances.
• Track and reconcile WIP schedules and related accounts.
• Prepare monthly project financial reports for review meetings.
• Coordinate lien waivers, COIs, and other compliance docs.
• Support external audits and financial reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and operations to resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate project records and ensure policy/contract compliance.

We are seeking a Construction Project Accountant to support the financial management of multiple construction projects from startup through closeout. This role will be responsible for maintaining project financial records, monitoring costs, supporting billing activities, and providing timely and accurate financial reporting to project teams and management. The work location for this position will be our Dallas, TX office with travel to job locations.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial reporting and accounting activities for assigned construction projects.

• Maintain accurate project records and ensure compliance with company policies and contract requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of project accounting or construction accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, job costing, and WIP reporting.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with construction ERP/accounting software such as ComputerEase, Viewpoint, Netsuite, or similar programs
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
