Job summary

Engtal in Watertown, MA seeks a detail-oriented Project Accountant to manage project billing, accounts receivable, vendor invoices, and job cost reporting across multiple construction projects.

You will collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking, perform month-end close activities, and prepare cost-to-complete estimates to support timely and accurate billing and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in project accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or billing.
• Experience in construction/mechanical contracting or related industry preferred.
• Strong understanding of job costing, project billing, and financial reporting.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with Trimble or similar construction accounting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer billing and invoicing across multiple construction projects.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Process vendor invoices and ensure accurate project cost allocation.
• Review job cost reports to ensure accurate and timely billing.
• Work closely with project managers to review labor costs, expenses, and project budgets.
• Prepare month-end project adjustments based on cost-to-complete estimates.
• Analyze project financials and generate job costing reports.
• Assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
• Communicate with internal teams, customers, and external partners to resolve billing discrepancies.
