JOB SUMMARY
The Project Accountant works with assigned Project Managers to provide day-to-day accounting support in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures and in keeping with the Company Core Values, Mission and Fundamentals. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Full time, Monday - Friday hours between 8:30am-6pm. Available as needed to commute to a regional Company Office, preferably in Harrisonburg, VA or Washington, DC office. Transition to hybrid arrangement negotiable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Project Setup and Maintenance
- Work with ProjectManager to ensure each project Startup Sheet is completed and submitted in a timely manner
- Input the project budget at the beginning of the project to allow for an efficient and accurate billing process
- Assure full set of supporting documentation for projects is complete and filed digitally
Payables
- Process Consultant invoices on a timely basis for Project Manager review and approval
- Process other weekly job cost payables for Project Manager review and approval (printing, supplies, etc)
- Work closely with Project Management, Vendors and Consultants to research and resolve any discrepancies
- Assist Accounting team members in preparation of weekly and monthly check runs, including some or all of the following: Analysis of Consultant “Pay when paid” report, posting of approved Employee Expense reimbursements, creating a weekly check batch for approval
- Verify on a monthly basis which projects are ready to be billed and coordinate the accurate and timely billing with the Project Manager according to contractual requirements
- Distribute monthly electronic invoices to clients
- Monitor client accounts receivable for past due invoices, following up with the client and / or Project Manager and management for action
Other tasks as assigned, but not limited to:
- Provide redundancy for certain accounting procedures such as cash receipts, payroll processing, resource scheduling, etc.
- Provide support for RFPs as needed
- Assist other Accounting team members when needed as available
- Initiate any required lien releases for clients
- Internal project and financial analytical reports
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an Associate’s degree with related experience
- Architecture Accounting or other billable Project Accounting experience required
- Minimum of 2 years general accounting experience
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
- Architectural Accounting Software (Unanet or Deltek experience strongly preferred)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
- Proficient at standard business communications (ability to communicate in writing)
- Expected to maintain availability and responsiveness through company communication devices, including Teams, Outlook, and cell phone, to ensure effective coordination and timely resolution of project-related matters.
