Job summary

Hunting is seeking a Project Accountant to deliver monthly estimates at completion and revenue recognition for complex projects. You will collaborate with the Business Unit Financial Controller, General Manager, and Project Managers to ensure accurate costing and timely financial reporting.

The role requires 5+ years in cost or project accounting, strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, and hands-on experience with ERP systems and Excel.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Finance/Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in cost accounting or project accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP Accounting Standards and IFRS.
• Experience with ERP systems, Excel and accounting consolidation software.
• Experience with D365 a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and contracts.
• Experience with IFRS 15, revenue recognition, and percent complete accounting.
• Manufacturing accounting experience including inventory, standard costing, labor and overhead rates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly estimates at completion (EAC) and reconcile data with project managers.
• Perform monthly revenue recognition calculations and post journal entries per IFRS/GAAP.
• Review project and facility costs vs budget to ensure proper cost allocation.
• Forecast weekly project costs, invoicing, and revenue calculations.
• Monitor billing milestones to ensure timely invoicing and collection.
• Assist with change order costing and bids/proposals as needed.
• Review new contracts to prepare IFRS revenue recognition memos.
• Support auditors with contract, EAC and revenue data as required.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to complete monthly estimates to complete and revenue calculations, reviewing project costs as compared to budget and weekly forecasting. The Project Accountant will assist in monthly closing, inventory reconciliations, audit requests and variance reporting. The Project Accountant will report to the Business Unit Financial Controller and works closely with the General Manager and Project Managers to ensure the projects are executed successfully.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly estimates at completion (EAC) including preparing the EAC workbook, analyzing, reconciling and review with assigned project manager to facilitate presentation to management team.
• Complete monthly revenue recognition calculation, prepare journal entries and ensure adherence to IFRS 15 contact regulations.
• Review project and facility costs as compared to budget to ensure costs are being allocated properly.
• Forecasting – prepare weekly project forecasts including costs, invoicing and revenue calculations.
• Monitoring project billing milestones and ensure they are being billed and collected in a timely manner.
• Assisting with change order costing and bids & proposals as needed.
• Assisting with review of new contracts to assist with preparation of IFRS revenue recognition memos.
• Assist with providing auditors with contract, EAC and revenue calculation information as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

• Required: B.S. Degree (or equivalent) in Finance/Accounting or related field.
• Required: Minimum of 5 years in cost accounting or project accounting.
• Required: Knowledge of GAAP Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
• Experience with ERP systems, Excel and accounting consolidation software.
• Experience with D365 a plus.

Work Environment/Conditions

• This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
• Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
• Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
• The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
