Job summary

Connect Search, LLC partners with an established construction and manufacturing organization to identify a Project Accountant / Senior Accountant to join a hands-on accounting team. The role emphasizes project accounting, PoC revenue recognition, WIP, project costing, and long-term contracts, with general accounting duties as well.

You will help manage transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, work closely with operations and project management, and contribute to systems

Qualifications

• 5+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with PoC, WIP, project costing, or long-term contracts.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition and GL activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activity for long-term projects and contracts.
• Prepare and maintain WIP schedules and close processes.

Connect Search is partnering with an established construction/manufacturing organization seeking a Project Accountant / Senior Accountant to join a hands‑on accounting team.

This position will have a significant focus on project accounting, Percentage of Completion revenue recognition, WIP, project costing, and long‑term contracts, while also supporting general accounting responsibilities.

The organization is currently preparing for a major ERP transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys project accounting, systems improvements, and working closely with operational and project management teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activity for long‑term projects and contracts
• Prepare and maintain WIP schedules
• Perform Percentage of Completion revenue recognition
• Monitor project costs, profitability, margins, and financial performance
• Track backlog and remaining contract balances
• Review actual project costs against expectations and forecasts
• Support project managers with project financial information and reporting
• Assist with project setup and accounting processes
• Support the transition of existing projects into the new ERP environment
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with bank reconciliations and other general ledger activity
• Support month‑end and quarter‑end close
• Prepare and review journal entries as needed
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Assist with financial reporting and audit support
• Support additional accounting responsibilities within a small, collaborative team

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience with Percentage of Completion, WIP, project/job costing, or long‑term contract accounting
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition
• General ledger and balance sheet reconciliation experience
• Month‑end close experience
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable working within a lean accounting team where responsibilities extend beyond a narrow job description

• Construction, industrial services, engineering, mechanical contracting, installation, equipment, or another project‑based environment
• Long‑duration projects or contracts
• Project profitability and margin analysis
• Cost‑to‑complete or project forecasting
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
• Dynamics GP, NAV/Navision, or similar ERP systems
• ERP implementation or system‑conversion experience
• Cost accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
