Job summary

Global Roofing Group is seeking a Project Accountant to support Project Directors and Project Managers by managing project financials, billing processes, compliance documentation, and AR activities throughout the project lifecycle.

You will ensure accurate job setup, billing execution, cost tracking, and financial reporting in Acumatica, aligning with contracts and company standards to support project profitability and healthy cash flow from contract execution through closeout.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of project accounting or construction accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction billing, SOVs, retention, and WIP reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (Acumatica strongly preferred).
• High attention to detail and financial accuracy.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with operations, finance, and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project billings including SOVs, invoice generation, lien waivers, and supporting documentation.
• Submit billing through customer portals and ensure contract/owner compliance.
• Coordinate billing revisions as project conditions evolve.
• Set up new projects in Acumatica upon contract approval and verify contract details.
• Enter and maintain project budgets, billing terms, retention percentages, tax details, bonding information, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain POD financial tracking tools and support weekly WIP reporting.
• Update Acumatica and internal trackers for cost, billing, and budget accuracy.
• Support change order execution and maintain compliance documentation.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with cash flow forecasting.
• Process vendor payment requests and coordinate with PMs for timely payments.
• Participate in contract reviews, WIP meetings, and coordinate with finance teams.

Position Summary

The Project Accountant supports Project Directors and Project Managers within an assigned operational POD by managing project financials, billing processes, compliance documentation, and accounts receivable activities throughout the project lifecycle.

This role ensures accurate job setup, billing execution, cost tracking, and financial reporting in Acumatica while maintaining alignment with contractual requirements and company standards. The Project Accountant plays a critical role in supporting project profitability, maintaining financial accuracy, and ensuring healthy cash flow from contract execution through project closeout.

Responsibilities

Project Billing & Financial Administration

• Prepare and manage project billings including schedules of values (SOVs), invoice generation, lien waivers, and supporting documentation.
• Submit billing through customer portals and ensure compliance with contract and owner requirements.
• Coordinate billing revisions and documentation updates as project conditions evolve.

Job Setup & System Integrity

• Set up new projects in Acumatica upon contract approval.
• Verify contract details between Salesforce, executed agreements, and internal documentation.
• Enter and maintain project budgets, billing terms, retention percentages, tax details, bonding information, and compliance documentation.

Project Cost Tracking, WIP Support & Financial Reporting

• Maintain POD financial tracking tools including cost-to-complete (C2C) summaries.
• Support weekly Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting and financial updates.
• Update Acumatica and internal trackers to ensure cost, billing, and budget accuracy.

Project Compliance & Documentation

• Support change order execution and documentation management.
• Maintain required compliance documentation, lien waivers, and bonding information.
• Ensure project files meet contractual and customer documentation requirements.

Accounts Receivable & Cash Flow Support

• Partner with Project Directors to monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Maintain AR communication and documentation.
• Assist with forecasting expected collections and supporting project cash flow.

Accounts Payable & Vendor Coordination

• Process vendor payment requests aligned with project progress.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Finance to ensure accurate and timely vendor payments.

Collaboration & Operational Support

• Participate in contract reviews, WIP meetings, and recurring POD financial meetings.
• Collaborate closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, and Finance teams.
• Proactively identify financial risks, billing issues, or compliance concerns.
• Perform related duties within the scope of the role as needed to support business operations.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
• 3–5 years of project accounting or construction accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of construction billing, schedules of values (SOVs), retention, and WIP reporting
• High attention to detail and financial accuracy
• Proficiency with accounting systems (Acumatica strongly preferred)
• Strong spreadsheet and financial tracking skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, finance, and project teams
• Ability to identify and elevate financial or compliance risks proactively
