Qualifications

• 3+ years of project accounting experience required.
• Construction or closely related industry experience required.
• Strong understanding of project financial documentation, billing, budgets, and subcontractor activity.
• Experience partnering directly with Project Managers.
• ERP system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between Project Managers and Accounting Operations.
• Coordinate project accounting activities and ensure accurate financial documentation.
• Support project financial tracking, budget monitoring, and related calculations.
• Facilitate subcontractor invoicing and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate and support owner payment application submissions.
• Review subcontractor documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with project documentation, organization, and submission requirements.
• Support change proposal and change management processes.
• Assist Project Managers with project budgets and budget adjustments.
• Support project closeout activities and ensure financial and documentation requirements are completed accurately.
• Prepare documentation required for owner walkthroughs and cost control reviews.
• Assist with weekly and monthly project reporting for owners.
• Compile financial documentation for Accounting and ERP entry.
• Prepare and submit monthly profit-related reporting to accounting leadership.
• Ensure cost control observations and outstanding items are addressed in a timely manner.
• Support Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance initiatives.
• Promote strong collaboration across project teams and the broader organization.

Job description

Position Title: Project Accountant

Location: Herndon, VA – Onsite / Project Site Based

Assignment Type: Permanent Hire

Compensation: $80,000 – $95,000 Annual base salary + performance-based bonus

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; flexibility may vary by project

• Ability to work independently while supporting multiple projects and deadlines
• ERP system experience preferred
