Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Project Accountant to join our team onsite in Umatilla or Hermiston, Oregon. The role runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, focusing on accounts payable with some accounts receivable using JD Edwards ERP systems.

This contract-to-hire opportunity offers exposure to data center projects in a growing company. You'll work with Excel daily, perform ledger reconciliations, assist monthly closes, and support audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• 3–5 years of construction or manufacturing accounting experience.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Assist with monthly and annual closes and consolidate financial statements.
• Perform complex reconciliations including liability roll forwards and bank reconciliations.
• Assist audits and prepare journal entries; correct posting errors.
• Work with JD Edwards, Sage, Timberline, Textura, and Report Now software.

Job Title: Project Accountant

We are seeking a dedicated Project Accountant to join our team onsite in Umatilla, OR, or Hermiston, OR. The role involves working full-time from Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. You will primarily focus on accounts payable and some accounts receivable tasks using JD Edwards ERP systems. This position offers an opportunity to work in a growing company with a rich history and involvement in data center projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform union payroll for 5-15 employees weekly, with potential for more as projects increase.
• Ensure accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
• Assist with monthly and annual financial close processes, including preparation of consolidated financial statements.
• Perform complex reconciliations, including liability account roll forwards and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Prepare and review journal entries and correct accounting posting errors.
• Work with Textura and Report Now, and Pro-Cor software.
• Assist management with preparing and analyzing various reporting needs such as Progress Billings, Lien restrictions, and Retention bonds.

Essential Skills

• Bachelors degree in Accounting.
• 3-5 years of related construction or manufacturing experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong reporting skills using Excel, including V-lookups and pivot tables.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with JD Edwards, Sage, or Timberline software.
• Textura experience is a plus.
• Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and certified payroll.
• Customer service experience with contractors and subcontractors.
• Experience with B2G and public works projects.

Work Environment

The Project Accountant will primarily handle accounts payable and some accounts receivable duties. You will work onsite at 858 E Penney Ave, Hermiston, OR, using Excel daily and JD Edwards software. The company offers free parking onsite when working in the trailer. This position is within a 140-year-old company that continues to grow, with a significant focus on data center projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hermiston, OR.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
