Job summary

Midwest Mechanical Solutions, a member of the AIR Control Concepts family, seeks a Project Accountant in Golden Valley, MN to monitor project progress, verify variances, approve expenses, and ensure timely billings and payments.

The role requires 5+ years accounting experience, strong data entry and costing skills, and proficiency with Intacct/Ariba. Construction/Progress billings knowledge is a plus; on-site work environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar business degree; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years prior experience working as an accountant or bookkeeper.
• Proficient in data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable and vendor payments.
• Strong communication skills.
• Key competencies are communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability.
• Construction accounting experience a plus.
• Knowledge of progress billings/AIA billings a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
• Proven ability to form long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with customers.
• Positive attitude that is conscientious, enthusiastic, articulate, and possesses a professional attitude to handle a fast-paced work environment.
• Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers and work effectively as a team member.
• Must demonstrate MMS Core Values: driven and self-motivated, can-do attitude, team player, customer driven, do what’s right and accountable.

Responsibilities

• Create or approve all project-related billings to customers. Input customer billings in Intacct and Ariba.
• Create project accounts in the accounting system.
• Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
• Coordinate with Project Team to reflect changes in project scope or timeline.
• Complete all postings, allocations, and accruals for projects.
• Review and approve supplier invoices related to specific projects.
• Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
• Confer with receivables staff regarding unpaid contract billings.
• Report on project profitability to management.
• Report to management regarding the remaining funding available for projects.
• Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers.
• Respond to requests for more detail from customers.Close out project accounts upon project completion.

Job Description:

The Project Accountant is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create or approve all project-related billings to customers. Input customer billings in Intacct and Ariba
• Create project accounts in the accounting system.
