Job Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting to support complex accounting operations, with a primary focus on revenue recognition, financial reporting accuracy, and compliance.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial data while supporting month-end close, revenue analysis, financial reporting, and continuous process improvement within a SOX-controlled environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, experience with revenue recognition, and the ability to analyze complex financial transactions and communicate findings effectively across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Perform and review revenue recognition activities in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Analyze revenue transactions, contracts, and supporting documentation to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and financial reporting analyses.
- Investigate variances and unusual fluctuations in revenue and other financial accounts and provide explanations to management.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, management reporting, and other accounting deliverables.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with SOX controls, including control execution, documentation, testing support, and remediation of identified deficiencies.
- Partner with FP&A, Revenue Operations, Legal, Sales, Accounts Receivable, and other cross-functional teams to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
- Support internal and external audit requests by providing documentation, analysis, and accounting support.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting workflows, controls, and automation.
- Research and apply relevant accounting guidance to complex or non-routine transactions.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within financial reporting, revenue accounting, or corporate accounting.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles, including ASC 606.
- Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes.
- Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules.
- Experience working within a SOX-controlled environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze complex transactions and translate accounting requirements into practical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
- Experience in a public company or SOX-regulated environment.
- Experience with ASC 606 and complex revenue arrangements.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting external audits and financial statement reporting.
- Experience with accounting process automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
