Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Power & Manufacturing Sector Finance Team.

You will manage financial administration, support project managers, and ensure accuracy in billing and reporting for a diverse portfolio of power and manufacturing projects. The role offers remote capacity with potential travel to Albany, NY or Norwell, MA as needed, and collaboration with engineers and finance professionals to strengthen project financial performance and contract

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in project accounting or cost accounting.
• Experience with revenue accounting, invoicing, and project management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial administration of assigned project portfolio including setup, revenue methods, rates, budgets, organizational assignments, and intercompany billing in Deltek Vision.
• Review budget-to-actual variances and coordinate with project teams on updates to estimates and plans.
• Evaluate subconsultant invoices and support timely cost recording and payment with Accounts Payable.
• Generate and review project financial reports and escalate items needing follow-up.
• Support financial projections by identifying risks, opportunities, write-offs, and margin impacts.
• Review contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontractor terms for compliance with requirements.
• Maintain project documentation and assist with audits and regulatory reporting.
• Prepare accurate draft invoices and submit on time.

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant to join our Power & Manufacturing Sector Finance Team in Albany, NY; Norwell, MA; or a remote capacity. In this role, you'll partner closely with project managers, engineers, and finance professionals to support project financial performance, contract compliance, billing, and reporting across a diverse portfolio of power delivery, industrial, and manufacturing projects.

What You'll Do:

• Manage the financial administration of an assigned project portfolio, including project setup, revenue methods, rates, budgets, organizational assignments, and intercompany billing in Deltek Vision
• Review budget-to-actual variances, coordinate with project teams on necessary updates, and help maintain accurate estimates and project plans
• Evaluate subconsultant invoices for accuracy and partner with Accounts Payable to support timely cost recording and payment
• Generate and review project financial reports, identifying items that require follow-up or escalation
• Support financial projections and forecasts by helping identify potential risks, opportunities, write-offs, and margin impacts
• Review contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontractor terms while monitoring compliance with contractual requirements, company policies, MWBE requirements, Certificates of Insurance, and applicable Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements
• Maintain key project documentation and assist with company financial, regulatory, and client audit activities
• Prepare accurate draft invoices, obtain project manager approval, and submit completed invoice packages within established timelines
• Monitor unpaid receivables and unbilled costs while coordinating with client Accounts Payable contacts and navigating external billing portals to support timely payment

What You Bring:

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in project accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, or a similar area required
• Understanding of revenue accounting, invoicing practices, financial tracking, business systems, and project management systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or a comparable enterprise accounting system highly preferred
• Previous experience in a professional service, project-oriented, fast-paced, or high-volume environment

Salary Range:

$31.25 - $33.65

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
