Job summary

Ledgent Finance & Accounting seeks a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support financial management of multiple projects from inception to completion.

The role involves monitoring budgets, tracking costs, and providing profitability analyses. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and 2+ years in related accounting work are preferred, with strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in accounting, project accounting, construction accounting, or cost accounting preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
• Track project expenditures and ensure costs are accurately coded and recorded.
• Prepare and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and profitability analyses.
• Review contracts, change orders, and subcontractor agreements for financial impact.
• Assist with billing, invoicing, revenue recognition, and collections.
• Reconcile project accounts and investigate variances.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities related to project accounting.
• Work closely with project managers to provide financial guidance and reporting.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Assist with audits and financial compliance requirements.
• Analyze project margins and provide recommendations to improve profitability.

Position Overview

• Job costing and WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting.
• Budgeting and forecasting.
• AIA billing and contract management.
• Sage, Viewpoint, Deltek, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $70,000 - $100,000+ annually, depending on experience.
