Job summary

The City of Southlake is seeking a Programs Supervisor to provide leadership within the Recreation Division. You will oversee high-quality programming and facility operations, coordinating a diverse portfolio of experiences from Summer Camp Mania to community events.

Build and lead a team, recruit instructors, manage budgets, and ensure programs meet community needs. Ideal candidates are organized, proactive, and capable of juggling multiple priorities while engaging residents and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Event and Sports Management, Parks & Recreation Management, Recreation Administration, or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of relevant recreation, athletics, and/or programming experience with supervisory experience.
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
  • Flexible schedule for daytime, evening, and weekend programming.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, development, promotion, implementation and day-to-day operation of diverse recreation programs.
  • Coordinate facilities, resources, and monitor registration and participation.
  • Manage program expenditures and evaluate program performance and financial sustainability.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise recreation staff; develop relationships with contract instructors.

The City of Southlake Community Services Department is seeking a Programs Supervisor to provide leadership within our Recreation Division. The Program Supervisor supervises and oversees high-quality recreation programming and facility operations for the Recreation Division. The Programs Supervisor leads the planning, development, promotion, implementation, and day-to-day operation of a diverse portfolio of recreation programs and community experiences. This position works closely with residents, participants, volunteers, contract instructors, City employees, and community partners to deliver high-quality programming that responds to the interests and needs of the Southlake community.

From signature experiences such as Summer Camp Mania, Breakfast with Santa, and the Sweetheart Dance to year-round recreation programming for a variety of ages and interests, the Programs Supervisor oversees programs from concept through execution. Responsibilities include evaluating community needs and program opportunities, establishing long-range program goals, coordinating facilities and resources, monitoring registration and participation, managing program expenditures, and evaluating program performance and financial sustainability.

A key component of this role is building and leading the team that brings these programs to life. The Programs Supervisor recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and supervises recreation staff and identifies and develops relationships with high-quality contract instructors who can bring new, engaging, and specialized programming to the community.

This position will have some daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday hours for scheduled programs and events.

What You Bring To Us:

Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Event and Sports Management, Parks & Recreation Management, Recreation Administration, or equivalent.
At least two (2) to five (5) years of relevant recreation, athletics, and/or programming experience. Supervisory experience required.
Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, American Red Cross CPR, First Aid and AED Certification.
Ability to remain flexible with your schedule. This position will have some daytime, evening, and weekend hours due to programming and events that are managed by this position.
